Sunday Afternoons

So Josh and I could not have more opposite schedules. He works at nights and I work days. He goes to work when I go to bed and I have to be at work when he gets off. We dont ever get days off together so when we have any part of a day off together we cant be bothered with sleep. So this afternoon after Josh had gotten maybe 3 hours of sleep, we went out to the woods together. I love going on drives with Josh! :) The air is clean and it is usually around 10 degrees cooler up in the mountains. We always turn it into a competition to see who can spot the most deer/turkeys etc. I think Josh won today.

stop giving me that look ya creepy deer!

Like a kid in a candy store:)

Friday night musings

Several Things......

1st. So this Friday night it was raining. Which is perfect if you are like me and crave soup but can't have it all summer because it is to hot... so I busted out the chicken and dumplings. Unfortunately I was to busy practically dancing around the stove waiting for my dumplings to finish cooking to take a picture but it is so darn tasty. Ree Drummonds book Pioneer Cooks and blogs/websites thepioneerwoman.com and tastykitchen.com have forever changed my life.

I worship and adore this. Also I am obsessed with this cast iron cook book holder. Wedding presents are fantastic.

2nd. Josh's hair grows really fast thank god.

3rd. This log

may look like an ordinary piece of wood but it must not be because this dog.....

LOVES IT SO MUCH. Every day pretty much she brings it inside. Sadly I come home and toss it back outside. I dont want to hurt her feelings by burning it but it may come to that.

4. My basil and pumpkins and roses are outside. I havent given them much attention thanks to the monsoons

5th. Hunting Season is almost upon us. When we first bought this house Josh ordered this and hung it up before we even had a stitch of furniture in the house....

6. And last but not least! The bathroom is DONE!!

AHHHH Glorious bathroom. I could just sit in it forever!

Tiling the bathroom and a shaved head

So sometimes when I look around my house I will focus on something and not be able to rest and relax until it is changed. This has happened to the cabinets, the kitchen walls, the little weird wood decorations, the outside color, sconces, etc. It is nice to have my own space and get to decide what happens to it. Even if Josh tries to crush my dreams and we have to compromise sometimes.

Lately the bathrooms and laundry room and the hideous light blue carpet that the lady that we bought the house from picked out, has been bothering the bejeezus out of me. So first things first the guest bathroom is being redone. We started last weekend and made great progress until around Wednesday or Thursday when I got some weird heachache that lasted days on end. I tried to get everthing pulled back to gether on Saturday but that just didnt happen. So hopefully we will get this all finally put back together in the next couple of days and there will be a finished project picture.

Eww Yuck!

Goodbye lame shell shaped sink.... Who the heck thought that was a good idea?

Floor scraping. The most fun you will ever have.

I provide moral support by taking pictures of myself

Clearly Josh is amused by me.....

Dont mind the half nekkid guy laying the first tile! yay!

This messiness bothers  me. Josh doesnt understand how my nerves get frayed by this disarray.

Eventually this niceness will be in there

Tile is done!

Second project I have been working on is the guest book/scrap book from our wedding. I am apparently really stretching this wedding stuff out. My vision for the guest book was first one that was very rustic with homemade paper and maybe bark or something for the cover. Well that didnt happen so I moved on to having a combined scrap book and guest book. I bought a ton of different patterned/designed scrap book paper and put card stock on parts of it so people could write there. Then I am now putting it all together with pictures etc. Well holy hell there was a lot more pictures then I anticipated and it took me forever and 15 million sheets of paper. I finally finished putting the pictures together tonight and now I just have to put some kind of decoration on a few pages and figure out what the heck kind of scrap book this monstrosity will fit in.... hmmmm

Jay and Dixie are good morale boosters....

Oh projects

Josh bought me some flowers last week and I am making them last as long as possible :)

She is ridiculous. Why does she suck me in with her cuteness!

And finally WHAT THE HECK DID JOSH DO TO HIS HEAD???

I love him dearly but he is no Vin Diesel/Jason Statham/Bruce Willis..... I like the hair longer....

Spontaneous Barbeques and new projects

So last weeks routine was broken up by a spontaneous bbq. The best kind there is. Tons of mis matched food and a warm summer evening makes me happy :)

I am Jay.

My dads delicious asparagus. Clearly it doesnt stick around to long

Sometimes you need a fruit tart

Dixie. Cord chewer.
She has now chewed up
1 and 1 1/2 Laptop cord
3 Phone charger cords
1 Surround system cord

as well as all of our shoes, weed cloth underneath the gravel in the back yard, coffee table, all beds and toys that she can lay her hand on, several of my bras (super) the wooden picture frame that me and Josh got at the Greer Lodge when we got engaged and various other things. She is super special to us.

In other news we have been working out little hearts out on redoing the guest bathroom. Almost finished! Yay for tile! Pictures to follow!

Purple toenails and potatoes.

So this weekend. Whew! Bff John came over for dinner on Friday night. Josh grilled us some steaks and we had those. John helped me harvest my purple potatoes! I got at least 5 pounds of them!

John made plans for an early morning hike on Sunday. Sadly I had a crappy illness on Saturday and literally slept all day long. Thank goodness for netflix and watching South Park. Josh finally woke up so I was jokingly telling him that having my toenails painted would make me feel better. So being the helpful husband that he is he brought out some nail polish and went to work! :) such a good guy!

I threw up so many times and had a fever so that pretty much canceled out any hiking plans. So on Sunday morning we had breakfast instead! My attempt at hollandaise sauce turned out meh.... okay. Room for improvement. And then instead of a healthy hike, me and John slept all morning after Josh went to sleep. Its pretty refreshing to sleep for almost 30 hours straight! I finally got my rested butt in gear at 5:30 this evening. I decided to pull some weeds outside because it had rained off and on all day and I figured it would be nice and easy. So I am dragging my dumpster around putting the weeds in it and it hits a patch of heavy gravel. I am pushing against it to push it out and suddenly it tips towards me and I fall into it. Awesome! I am not trying to wiggle my way out of the darn dumpster which I conveniently had pushed out in the front yard for all to see. I seriously knocked my knee and knocked the air out of myself and may have injured my pride a little :) Now on to the next week!
